The Oddspot

The clients approached us to comment on existing plans that they felt were a little ‘safe’. The trust they placed in us to provide a full design and turn key service allowed the creation of a truly fantastic, spacious, light and energy efficient home at a sensible budget.
The Oddspot holds a unique position in that it boasts views south to the green fields of St Mawgan valley at the same time as enjoying fantastic views of the sea at Mawgan Porth. This advantage was carefully considered during our design process. The main living area having wrap around floor to ceiling windows to make the most of these stunning 180 degree views, including the rising morning sun up the valley, a rare sight on the North Coast.

The plot was challenging as it turned out to be a sand dune! It was sitting on 4m of blown sand.

Our flexible approach and solution was a piled retaining wall to the back of the house and created an ‘underground’ games room. It has three spacious levels yet sits sympathetically within the topography.

The property is also located close to an English Heritage ancient monument, so groundwork excavations involved us working closely and considerably with Cornwall Archaeology.

Tanzarra

Set on the edge of the cliffs close to Mawgan Porth’s sand, Tanzarra used to be a sad 1960’s bungalow facing the wrong way and needing some TLC.
Lionpark designed and built an iconic home that was to set the precedent for new state of the art developments in Mawgan Porth. As the first contemporary build in 2010 Tanzarra really is a special place. No other property quite holds the uninterrupted views, with year-round sunsets, like Tanzarra.
Overflowing with eco-credentials; highlights are a unique local grass green roof, solar thermal panels, triple glazed windows, heat recovery, ventilation system.

6,600sqft of home includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, play room, open plan living, surfboard racks, laundry shoot, high end fixtures and fitting throughout, sauna and golf simulator.

Tanzarra is a prime example of Lionpark’s high quality workmanship and was a finalist in the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2014.
